I LOVE Jing!

I have used Jing before and have found it helpful, but I think Jing is going to be an excellent tool in my graudate course. As I've mentioned before, a major component of the class is that students write an entire IEP. I will be spending my face to face time with students going over the specific components, but I think I will use JING to post reminder "how-to's" for the paperwork. I think when I teach the concepts and regulations in class students will be hyperfocused on the content that they might miss some of the details involved with filling out the forms correctly. I'm hoping that Jing will help me to overcome this challenge by allowing me to post simple screencasts on the details of the paperwork. Instead of converting a Power Point into Jing, I simply recorded an example IEP form and explained the components of each section. I am hoping this is helpful for students.

I was also surprised by how fast and easy it was to make a screencast like this. All I needed to do was write out a script and record; it really only took about 25 minutes total. This is definitely a convenient tool for both me and my students!

  1. Becca, I think using Jing to show students how to fill out the IEP forms is an excellent idea. Please feel free to do this instead of recording a PP presentation. I have my 109 students using Jing to show other "teachers" how to use various web 2.0 tools.

  2. I love your idea Becca. I wish I could have learned Jing as quickly as you. I think I spent about 4 hours until I was happy with my results. I'm so glad that you will also be taking over the undergraduate SPED 420 course because it seems like some of the things you are preparing for your graduate course will also be appropriate for the undergraduate course. Happy jinging!
